Youth Report

Last Saturday the Washington Association Youth in Harvest met at Sandhill Baptist Church. We had a total of 56 in attendance. After an encouraging devotion from our pastor on "Remembering our creator in the days of our youth...", and an inspiriting program from our youth on How to Be a Better Student for Christ, we had our annual election of officers. Young representatives from each church came together and voted on new officers for next year. We dismissed into the fellowship hall for food and fellowship. What an awesome night for all. Come join in fun and meet with us next Sunday evening!

We Baptized Another into the Body of Christ Today

"In humble obedience to our Lord and Saviour..." Posted by Picasa
Welcome, Cayla, into the body of Christ at Sand Hill Church. We are so excited for you! Now, you have good reason to show that pretty smile of yours and lead others to Christ. We pray God will keep your heart and mind protected from harm and bless you as you begin your new journey.

Ladies' Sunday School Class

Our class is very special. We come to worship the Lord and are thankful for our Co-teachers, Sis. Lorena and Sis. Essie. You both do such a wonderful job each week. This is not the whole group; but we'll try again later. We have such a good time during Sunday School. Time is just not long enough sometimes. Come on out and join us. We share prayer requests, learn more about the Bible and just have a good time.

Immediate Prayer Request

Someone has just called and ernestly pleaded for prayer for herself, her husband and their little family. I cannot share any details, not even the name; but the situation is very dangerous. Please pray for their safety and the Lord's intervention in their lives.

Thank you.

Washington Association to Meet

Washington Association will meet on Friday, August 18 at 7:30 at Midway.

Youth Practice

To all Sand Hill Youth: Practice will be 4:30 before church on August 5 and 12. Other practice times may be called for if needed.

Coming Soon...Youth in Harvest at Sand Hill

Yes, Sand Hill Baptist Church will host the next Youth in Harvest meeting on Saturday, August 26 at 7PM. We look forward to hosting this event and trust that all of the churches in the Washington Association will be able to come and represent their church.

Our theme for the night will be "Better Students for Christ" to coincide with the beginning of school. We encourage all to come!

Some Churches...

I've heard of some churches having members who never or rarely attend mid-week service and yet appear in their respected churches to vote on selected issues during their business meetings. How one could do that with a clear conscience? And some rally members to support their own issues coming to selected business meetings; but not attending regular services faithfully. What a shame. God must just shake his head.

We trust that Sand Hill members will not reflect this lack of respect for God or fellow church members either today or in the future. And I trust that any of you from other churches would never be caught in this delimma. We came away from our business meeting having taken care of the business at hand and trust that other churches are able to do the same.

I hope this is a blessing to you.

Please, no specific personal comments about your church. Only general comments would be in order that would edify the Lord. All others will be deleted.

Business Meeting

Last night we agreed by popular vote to make some changes.

  1. GMA's and Sunbeams will meet on Sunday nights during service time
  2. Omit pastor mileage
  3. Pay our national missionaries directly to their "work fund"
  4. Vote on the state missionary status next business meeting

Blogger note: Hopefully our recent expenditures needed for the upkeep of the building and unusual one-time expenses have only created temporary limited funds. We look forward to the Lord blessing this test and look to come out with even better situations. The Lord will prevail and we will remain full of joy, peace and happiness :) no matter what the situation.

Close Out Night

Wow! What a great bunch of people! Mt. Carmel Baptist Church sure has a desire to learn more about Gospel Music, because they want to praise the Lord! We all had a wonderful time with the people of Mt. Carmel. I think everyone learned something new about music. Last night in closing each class shared something with the rest of the school that they had learned. The youngest class sang and directed "Jesus Loves Me" in 2/4 time (yes, I said directed), the older youth class sang and directed "Power in the Blood" in 4\4 time with a little twist ( how many "powers" can you fit in?), and the adult class sang "What A Friend" accapello, with fantastic harmony. Everyone in attendance received a certificate. Congrats to all on a job well done!

Singing School at Mt. Carmel 7/30 - 8/1

Beginning on Sunday and continuing through Tuesday at 6 PM nightly, Mt. Carmel, of Carriere, Mississippi, is hosting a singing school for their church. There are three classes offered: one for grades 4 and below, one for grades 5 and above, and an adult class. Beginning classes ( sight reading, harmony and song directing) are being taught. The students are wonderful! Our director is Sis. Jennifer Holland of Lucedale, MS. The teachers are: Sisters Jennifer Holland, Brenda Holland and Maggie Holland. Bro. Skip (not pictured) is also assisting. All three have attended Gospel Singers of America (GSA) which meets for school every summer at its campus in Pass Christian, MS.

Sis. Brenda's Sunday evening class was awesome. They were lively; but attentive and were very good learners. Please pray for these young people as they develop into singers, song directors and faithful church members.

I hope to post other pictures soon.
