Thursday Night Service

The Lord sent us another timely message. The text came from III John 1-4. The 4th verse was the key verse. Did we notice the word "hear". There is no greater joy than to hear our children walk in truth. If we see, we are present and while that is good, but we are there to corrrect. What a difference when we are not there with our children and they still do what is good. When others tell us good spiritual things that our children do of their own will we hear. What a difference!

Then the Lord directed us through the message to understand the things that we should all have or not have in our homes to make our families strong in the Lord. Daily prayer using a family altar, family and private devotions, our conversations centered around God, our behavior as good examples, and our constant visual displays of the Word were some of the things touched on. We could all improve in the area of family. Even if we don't have children at home, we should come together as couples and seek the Lord daily.

Some came to the altar for prayer. Remember them.

Speaking of family, I did not stay in the auditorium. It was my pleasure to take my granddaughter into the nursery where we could hear the message through the speaker and not interupt the service. However, a pleasant reminder to anyone in any service is this: If all is perfectly quiet all the time where you worship with no movement, or chatter, we probably have no children ; and that would not be good. Good discretion on the part of the parents, grandparents, caretakers and the members of the church where you are is essential. I realize that some of you have a well organized nursery. But most churches are not large and do not have the staff to do so. If you are the average American smaller church and do have some disruptions from babies or children in your church; be encouraging. Remember that children stay little only for a short time. Maybe you could offer to care for a little one occasionally. Or maybe you could spearhead an optional nursery or be a volunteer. Help is not limited by gender. It might make an eternal world of difference! And it just might be a part of your ministry...
